Welcome to our house, and to this week's list of likes
the picture is a tease for my Creative week post on Saturday. An older quilt, and this is the center
I like quilt making...
this is my latest finish, hand sewn hexies, now quilted and on the family room table
I spent time painting this week, during morning coffee... here is one painted over one of my other likes, Kakuro puzzles, and I wondered what it would look like to paint over them
Fine dining
I made homemade cream of mushroom soup and Keto Almond flour biscuits to go in this...
the chef calls it Chicken cobbler.... and it was so good, and enough for three lunches for two
I love as Joy calls them, "planned-overs" the recipe is here

I've been meaning to tell you I like this jade roller, for reducing inflammation. I use it at night on my face for sinus and allergy issues. Feels good and does seem to help.
I do not look 25 again, but it feels good
got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond... it's closing better hurry
Watching on youtube
so smart....
our Prompt this week is:
"do you like to sing for yourself, or others?
do people recognize your ability or has anyone said you're not a singer?
Do you judge yourself or sing for yourself? other suggestions: do you make up songs during the day, do you sing to
babies? are you more comfortable singing high or low?
I remember seeing the movie Love is a many splendered thing when I was quite young, and loving the song so much I used to sing it all the time. I sang all the kids songs of course, itsy bitsy spider being my favorite with the finger motions. Jesus loves me...
I was always in the band in school, so I never had time to be in chorus where the "real" singers were
I always make up songs around the house, sometimes using another song as the musical base. I sing a lot to Milo who wonders why he isn't allowed to bark if I can make that noise.
I have a low alto voice, my favorite singer was Karen Carpenter... we sang at the same register.
I was in a number of musical stage productions as a young adult, and in each audition you must sing, dance, and do a spoken recitation. Once I got a call back saying they were hiring me to sing in Kiss Me Kate... I kind of faltered for a moment, and asked, " as a dancer you mean" and they said, nope, you're one of our singers. Well then,
I often think about studying voice now. I can hear notes that are off from my years of piano and band, but can't always make my aging voice make the correct sound. I would love to be better at singing harmony with someone else too.
I was a wench for years and years in the Renascence Festival, and we often sang old songs as we went along the path. I remember once someone saying to their friend, oooo she's good. Well, for once the song was sung at a low register.
As a child, I imagined myself a singer/dancer. If imagining something and dreaming it, and seeing it in my minds eye makes it true, that would be nice. At parties with strangers, and someone asked what I did, I responded I was a dancer on Broadway, er OFF broadway. With a straight face I said that.
When a judge on American Idol puts down a singer by calling them Broadway/stage performers, I think, that's the best. Those singers pronounce words so you understand them while keeping in perfect pitch, night after night.
I love to sing, and love to hear singing....
Milo's Moment
Milo here, I love playing with Daddy, and for some reason I love rolling on my back in the yard so I can win the ring toy tug of war
plus I always get a massage of my tummy!
Mama: yes... you'll roll over on the dried grass that gets in your fur, but not inside the house when I need you to...
Milo: yesssss if you want me to, it means you're gonna check something out on me that could require medical intervention and I do not want ANY part of that!!! Love ya'but...
so anyway, it's about time for you to brush off all this dried grass junk, and go inside and eat!
now please visit these fine folks to see what they liked this week, and tell me your singing history please, I love stories!

ReplyDeleteI love that quilt at the top! I would have that in my house in a heartbeat!
ReplyDeleteYour hexie star turned out “ may-velous! Love it. I wonder what other store will have those Bed Bath and Beyond goodies! I hope someone. Probably Amazon!
ReplyDeleteYour singing voice and mine are at the same range - low alto! I also try to sing sometimes but my voice is so out of practice it just cracks. That chicken cobbler looks delicious, I've saved the recipe. Sounds like a really good pot pie. I've made my own mushroom soup before, and it really is delicious! I'm sorry your jade roller did not deliver on the "looking 25 again". :)
ReplyDeleteThe hexie star quilt is fabulous!!! It looks great on your coffee table. I want to make one myself now!
ReplyDeleteYour chicken cobbler looks delicious. I used to enjoy trying out new recipes, but my husband is so picky and usually won't try them anyway, so I don't often do that anymore.
Painting on puzzles is a great idea LeeAnna :) LEuk idea for an art quilt project :)
ReplyDeleteLove that tease of a center quilt in this post. The hexies are gorgeous. I sing off key. The nuns didn't like it...so it goes. I sing to myself and in the car as it is pretty embarassing...no broadway star here!
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are so pretty. And that cobbler looks like we need to have some at our house. My momma sings alto too. Not me. I'm a so-purr-no. Love, Dori
ReplyDeleteI love that 'chicken cobbler' sounds very interesting.

Great quilt! Wouldn't it be amazing to see those two live doing Wicked!
ReplyDeleteMay you enjoy singing and may Milo enjoy an occasional bark. Love Karen Carpenter ... and show singing ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteMy favourite line in this post..."I was a wench for years and years"...could be the start of a story. Ahh Karen Carpenter with her beautiful voice, perfect pitch and lots of range. Haunting really, speaking of which, did you know there are ghost stories about her.
ReplyDeleteLove your hexie tabletopper and that really neat house hanging too.You do such creative works always. Love the Milo and Dad in the yard too.
Your quilts are always so pretty and the chicken cobbles looks great. Hey, if you made it with turkey it would be a turkey gobbler. Milo, you sure are enjoying your Daddy playtime! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteI love that hexie quilt. Planned overs. I like that. I do that all the time! I used to sing in the choir. I miss that sometimes. I need to the practice to have any chance of hitting a note on-key. But I'll always sing in the car (especially when I'm playing Dr Demento stuff).
ReplyDeleteOh yes - love Karen Carpenter! Your chicken cobbler casserole looks yummy - thanks for sharing the link to the recipe. The cat video was so interesting!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have had an interesting life, LeeAnna - and I sure enjoy reading your posts and learning more about you. Your hexie quilt is very pretty, and I like your little painting, too. Fun post!
ReplyDeleteYour chicken cobbler looks Devine!
ReplyDeleteFunny, i also call my left dinner bits "Planned Overs!"
So "lets sing a song of casserole love !"
Cats are so smart!!
It makes a change but I can say I’ve been baking today...a salmon and feta cheese quiche, a ham, mushroom and blue cheese quiche , a batch of fruit scones, a dozen Bakewell tarts and 6 buns....yes been rather busy because I’ve also shortened 2 school dresses and a lined blouse and then made another memory bear. ๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteYour cooking looks yummy and Milo is, as always, just gorgeous.
Hugs,
Annie x
Love the 'house' quilt ~ awesome and great to see pics of Milo ~ Xo

I love that first quilt. Gorgeous! You always try out the best recipes. So glad Milo is having fun!
ReplyDeleteI admire your talent for quilting and I adore the star you made. Thanks for linking up and I hope you are having a great week.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt, so very talented, I can't sing to save my life, I'm totally tone deaf but it doesn't stop me singing when I'm alone in the house doing boring housework to help pass's the time xxx
ReplyDeleteThat blue binding?/facing?/border? on the hexie quilt is AMAZING!
