Welcome to this weeks's list of likes... it's still Fall but we're headed into a hot spell. Insects are thriving at the moment and I was interested in just how beautiful this butterfly was on my mums... and how different it looked against different colors... makes you really think about wall colors doesn't it?
I loved how this pic captured color line and texture as well as season
I like the balance of this photo in line/color/texture |
I Liked finishing the quilting on one more table runner, which now just needs a binding, and finishing the borders of my Kool Kaleidoscope, now it's ready for basting and quilting.
I'm watching the same shows. I finished the book One snowy night by Patience Griffon and it was lovely, and am trying to finish reading the latest bakeshop mystery before the library snags it again.

Milo's Moments
Milo: I should have a whole baked sweetie for me in my bowl, cut up pweeze
Mama: really? A whole one? why?
Milo: cause I been sniffing it all livelong day since you bakered it and I know what's in them!
Mama: oh you do, well what's in them?
Mama: I am not sure a whole one would good for a doggie...( probably not good for us ) besides they have orange juice in them and you don't like fruit
Milo: if I am not posed to have one, why are they called "pupcakes" ?
Mama: well, my little lawyer, they are cup-cakes and I already gave you some
Milo: hmph, not enough to need to chew even! Nobody loves me around here! I have the best sense of smell, I was first in line, and I'm the only one here who isn't chubby.
Mama: hmph... what logic
now cut that out! |
please visit these fine folks to see their lists of likes for the week, and let me know if you did a post to add!
we love mums and we wish they would stay for the whole year....
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of colors and textures only found in nature! Milo does have very good logic. Maybe a compromise of half a pupcake is in order?!?
ReplyDeleteI love your mums. I haven't bought any yet but it's just now cooling off some here! Enjoy your day sweet lady!
ReplyDeleteButterflies hanging out on your pretty mums are so neat to see! Your baking looks and sounds yummy, too. Looking forward to seeing what you've been sewing on this week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, beautiful butterfly and handsome Milo.
ReplyDeleteI ate some of the goodies. Yummy.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to Milo. ♥
This time of year is so exquisite. Between the golden quality of light and nature's beauty, it's exceptional wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour fall colors are looking so pretty. The cupcakes and cake look terrific too. Hey Milo, I agree, you should get a big bunch of those baked goodies, but not so much as to upset your tummy. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteHi Lee Anna,
ReplyDeleteYour butterflies are beautiful...we are having nippy weather here..High's in the 40'a and 50's and lows in the 20's..to cold for me. Your Cupcakes and Cherry loaf looks really yummy. I've posted my I Like at my place...https://100sweets.blogspot.com/2021/11/progress.html Have a great day!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful butterfly. The image made me smile. If I am baking and want something to taste really orangey, I often substitute thawed frozen OJ because it's concentrated. Gives a flavor boost especially when fresh oranges (and their rind) are not available (often here as I refuse to buy oranges from too far away - Australia, south africa, spain!) Do love the organic california ones that come to me up the coast.
ReplyDeleteThe cherry bread does sound yummy. I’m not much of a baker, but do love to make quick breads this time of year. Cranberry orange, lemon blueberry, pumpkin. That butterfly does look quite different on different colored flowers. HMMM - food for thought.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure if my post was logged, but LeeAnna I do so enjoy your posts and I think I need to bake more now after reading about that cherry loaf 😉
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly pics are gorgeous. Altitude cooking never even considered it, but I remember as a kid reading high altitude directions on the betty crocker cake mix boxes. Don't you love it when you can snuggle into bed under quilts and comforters and my favorite! Flannel! Milo do you like Bananas? Bobbin love bananas, but then Bobbin has been known to steal apple peel and stash it throughout the house and nibble on it as a snack.
ReplyDeleteI do think the colors of the flowers would be lovely in a bedroom or together in a quilt or rug! Sweet memories of your time with the old boyfriend and nice to have some recipes to take away from it all. I am with Milo - give me a big helping, pweaze! xx K
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your conversations with Milo! Makes me smile, every week! I’m sorry I am late posting. I had it all ready to publish before I went to my stitching group. Then I spilled my just poured big cup of coffee all over the counter and the floor. By the time I got it cleaned up it was time to leave and I just forgot. Sorry! 😕
ReplyDeleteCupcake sweet blog along with your sweet pup!
ReplyDeletePretty flowers and butterflies. Yay for cooler weather. Cupcakes look good!
ReplyDeleteAwww... Thank you, LeeAnna! I was glad that it worked out we could Zoom this week, after all. It's always a pleasure spending the afternoon with you!
ReplyDeleteYummy color and food. I envy the warm where you are.
ReplyDeleteI love how the butterfly seems to change when it is resting on a different color, the Mums are gorgeous and Cherry Loaf Cake! I've not make that in like forever! If Milo was at our house, Cinnamon would have talked me into a whole pup cake...I can't resist her big brown eyes! Have a marvellously happy week!
ReplyDeletesounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteHi LeeAnna! I have had huge success with Working Hands available here at Walgreen's. My skin cracks horribly each winter and that stuff usually heals it within a day or two. I put it on at night. Also, if you need just a wee bit more time finishing a book just turn off your wifi on your device until you finish it. You can read until you finish or until you turn the wifi back on. Also, if you check out the book from the library again, it will open to the page you were at! {{Hugs}} a bunch for you and Milo! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteWas there cardamom in the orange cupcakes? I once had a slice of orange cake and it was heavenly. Mom said it was the addition of cardamom. Glad your weather is cooperating. Ours should next week. Pretty butterfly pics. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos with beautiful colours in the flowers. The baking sounds good. I make a nice date and orange loaf but that isn't very orange tasting either.
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat the smell of a kitchen where there has been a baking session so quite understand why Milo wants some. I have a recipe for 'pumkin dog biscuits' so I bake those for my two now and then. Kate x
I'm so glad to hear you talked with Mary from Peoria. I feared the worst when she stopped blogging and disappeared from I like Thursdays after her surgery.
ReplyDeleteThe deer came through one night and ate some hostas, demolished a lilac bush, ate half of my potted begonias, and ate the flowers off my potted mums.
My dermatologist recommended CeraVe cream for dry, cracked skin.

LA - what a fascinating study in color to see the butterfly against two different flowers. I love mums, but have given up using them to decorate in the fall since it's like crack to the deer around here!
ReplyDeleteYour mums look SO much healthier than mine. And the color study photos with the butterflies are wonderful. Your orange muffins sound good and I can see why Milo would be interested. Have a great weekend, LeeAnna.
ReplyDeleteNeither butterflies nor flowers in Finland anymore - but the butterfly stands better out on pink, I think. I don't bake, because my husband does not eat them :) Milo looks alert, you can be safe :)) Happy weekend Leanna.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I like Milo's logic!
ReplyDeleteI love those butterflies on your mums. You have some healthy looking plants there. Beautiful!
Orange muffins sound good. To get an orange taste you add a bit of orange peel to the dough/batter. Orange juice does not give it the taste.
When recipes mention orange juice it usually means: take an orange and squeeze the juice out of it. Not the 'rubbish' they sell as orange juice in a carton.
Enjoy your weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca
Hello,
ReplyDeleteYour Mums are so colorful and pretty. It has been awhile since I have seen butterflies. The cold weather is here, it is nice sleeping weather. Cute conversation with Milo, he looks like a great guard dog. Your cake and cupcakes look yummy. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend.
The butterfly pics are lovely!
