and now this

guess what? Blogger is going to take away more things we like such as following a blog by email.

which is very handy as a reminder to read blogs I enjoy, and for you to remember to visit with me.

this is the notice I received:

FollowByEmail widget (Feedburner) is going away
You are receiving this information because your blog uses the FollowByEmail widget (Feedburner).
Recently, the Feedburner team released a system update announcement , that the email subscription service will be discontinued in July 2021.
After July 2021, your feed will still continue to work, but the automated emails to your subscribers will no longer be supported. If you’d like to continue sending emails, you can download your subscriber contacts. Learn how

Hey google/blogger. Thanks for making life less sweet.

I don't plan on gathering all your email addresses and setting up a group email format formally. It's just not nice. I wonder what alternative we all have to still become aware of the blogs we want to read,

do you know?

if blogs will be going away eventually then what's left to those of us who enjoy that format? I do not want to ever be on FB and I'm not really that interested in getting random pics of someone's lunch daily. I enjoy thoughtful words and pretty pics, maybe tutorials, book discussions, decorating tips and craft ideas someone has tried or found. I like the peek into someone's life that blogging provides as I feel connected.

  1. Just when we get comfortable, technology changes again. GRRR! I have 2 ways I follow blogs. I have a list of some "favorites" on the menu on my own blog and it shows any new posts from them. But I now follow many more than that, so I have my Bloglovin sccount set up to show all of the blogs I follow. And it shows all new posts too.

  2. I saw that today too. We have a good number of email subscribers and I'm not sure what to do yet either.

  3. The bloggers that I follow, and there are many, are all by e-mail. I better start making a list.

  5. Would Bloglovin' work? It's kind of an aggregator that I've used for Blogger blogs. If it's any consolation WordPress is messing with us too. Bastards.

  6. That stinks. I love receiving your (and other blogs). Does anyone know why they are doing that?

  7. I got that message, too. I've been using Feedly for following blogs, but also have quite a few I follow by email. I have no idea who follows me by email, though! I think we'll still be able to connect through those other sites (Bloglovin, Feedly), but also through the different weekly link-ups we all join in with.

  8. I use the Reading List in Blogger to follow blogs I care about. I figure a person could set up a bogus blog in Blogger and only use the reading list feature if they are not a blogger.

  9. Bonnie Hunter mentioned this on her blog too! She suggested using Bloglovin’ . I have all the blogs I follow bookmarked. But that doesn’t let me know who has a current post! I just have to check them all!

  10. As someone who doesn't blog I depend on the email notifications to follow many favorite blogs. I saw Bonnie's comment on IG about using Bloglovin'. I signed up for Bloglovin' to follow a couple of blogs, but I don't get any email notices about them. In fact I don't get anything from Bloglovin' except an occasional email suggesting other blogs to follow that I'm not interested in. Grrr. Hopefully by July some people will have figured it out and let the rest of us know.

  12. I follow blogs in my reading list. You can set them up to follow publicly (which I think puts your icon on their page) or privately. While I have a link to Bloglovin', I never use it myself.

  14. Bloglovn' is a pain in the you know what for me as the receiver. I lost you on Bloglovn' a long time ago. The only way I get you now is through Feedly
