Welcome to this week's list of likes at chez Lee Anna's I love dates... dates are like eating candy while feeling virtuous
I love this set of pens
staedtler fineliners |
and they have inspired many drawings this week along with one that will turn into my Project Quilting project for the week...details later on that
I love our minestrone soup recipe, and there are so many ingredients I always practice "mise en place" and get things out and ready before starting. I love this little turquoise measuring bowl
Mine! recipe made 12 for us |
between her and the golden retriever's hilarious videos,
I've almost kept on an even keep emotionally in these trying times.I found several videos from Oren Lyons and other native Americans that resonated with me in their respect of the earth and others (one is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iVziGHPhVw
Friends
I have so enjoyed talking with friends this past
week... sharing laughter, tears, worries and artistic journeys have been
a Godsend.
I looks innocent right? I'm sweet, give me a treat! |
okay I'll try the biscuits first... better give me a bigger one just in case! |
Milo: the sock fairy is come to my house. Here's what happened...
another senseless grooming injury! Mama want to own up to this?
Mama: welllllll somehow, even though I was trying to be careful when shaving a certain poodle's toes which had matted hair between them (#troll) I nicked the skin a bit. I put medicine on it, and a bandage and to keep that on, one of my socks pulled up to the elbow of said innocent poodle.
Milo: AHA! obvious neglect! Grooming is a bad idea, as I tole you before, and it's dangerous!
Mama: well if you didn't yank and pull your feet out of my hands while I'm holding the torture shaver it wouldn't have happened too...
Milo: the truth is Mama was very sorry and used that baby talk I loves and singed to me her guilt and petted me extra. I like all of that stuff... especially the high pitched baby talk. And I did pull my feet out of her hands because I think grooming is torture and unnecessary and a waste of my time.
Mama: so at night we put a sock on your incredibly injured foot but we wake up to find the sock in the bed. How do you think that happened?
Milo: The sock fairy took it off. It was too heavy for her to fly off with though, and she forgot to leave me a treat too. I'm taking a nap, and making myself so small in case that shaver comes back
These wonderful people are sharing their likes for the week too, and if you write an I Like post be sure to let me know in comments!

Hi LeeAnna,
ReplyDeleteYour baking is turning out great ! Superbiscuits ! Have fun experimenting :) such as grated cheese on top before they go in to the oven.
hugs,
Joanne
Hmmm, a lot of yummy treats here! Ah, these sock fairies, so mischievous ;))
ReplyDeleteAw poor Milo! He looks so grey in these photos, must be the lighting, right? Liked the cottage fairy video! Have a safe and happy day!
ReplyDeletethe biscuits are super great ... golden like the sun we miss so much this times ;O)
ReplyDeleteSomething so wonderful about fresh hot biscuits! Yum!!
ReplyDeletePoor Milo! We had to have our long haired cat shaved once a year to get rid of the matted fur we couldn't brush away. Had to have the vet anesthetize him to get it done because he fought the process so badly. It was always a bit comical when we picked him up because he looked like a drunk wearing wrinkly grey long johns.
How strange, we have that package of dates which we both love, I made biscuits on Tuesday, and I just started watching the Cottage Fairy. Murphy hates having her nails trimmed, acts as if she is enduring a beating. I'm not sure what she'd do if we actually nicked her...all manner of hysterics I imagine! Love the way Milo has those toes tucked under.
ReplyDeleteYou and your muffins inspired me to make some bran muffins this morning. Not fancy like yours, but they taste good :)
ReplyDeleteThe biscuits look yummy! And I'm definitely going to have to try your banana-pumpkin muffin recipe, too. Poor Milo! He's definitely hiding his feet away from the evil clippers.
ReplyDeleteGreat baking and Dad thanks you for the recipe
ReplyDeleteI am not hooked on The Cottage Fairy too. Thanks for the recommendation! She is so calming. I love how she has simplified her life and the things she chooses to focus on. I also love what you made with your new set of pens. I often send little doodles on a postcard to my middle son and his wife. I sometimes need inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteMilo is funny!
ReplyDeleteI love Medjool dates too, they are so sweet and good. I also have those pens and love them. I gave my daughter a mini set for Christmas (mini in size - they are 6" tall or so). Those sock fairies are so fussy. I'm sure Milo really wanted to keep that sock on - LOL.
ReplyDeleteI love that set of pens! How awesome! Love biscuits and muffins too! I love BREAD! lol Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHeh, heh...you sure know how to make yourself small, Milo. Hope your foot heals quickly! Congrats to your mum for making buttermilk biscuits from scratch. Bet they tasted yummy.
ReplyDeletewhat an exciting week! And all that baking! All we baked here were Peanut Butter and Bacon (dog) Cookies! Now I have a hankering for biscuits and chicken! Have a marvellously Happy Day!
ReplyDeleteYou've got me wanting homemade biscuits now. I like making drop biscuits because I don't need to find surface space to roll 'em out. That is a cute measuring bowl. You're brave to trim Milo's toes. I'm glad that Molly is able to keep her nails trimmed. :-) My post today fits I Like Thursday, hurrah! ReplyDeleteCheers, LeeAnna!
Hi LeeAnna! Your biscuits turned out just great considering this is the first time you made them. I thought NOTHING was supposed to stick to wax paper - that's the whole point of it?!! You are inspiring me to go out and bake something right this minute. Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteWOW, those biscuits and the muffins sure look good. Milo, I sure hope your hurty is all better now. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteLOL OMG biscuits. I have a cheater recipe which is fabulous. I guess I should be happy Bobbin is low maintenance when it comes to grooming. I did do a toe nail trim the other day and she was fabulous. Great likes.
ReplyDeleteMilo, you are funny. First I ever heard of a sock fairy. :)
ReplyDeleteI love dates. The biscuits look great. Poor Milo - I'd hide my toes, too! (Why do they insist on wriggling?!?!)
ReplyDeleteI took two of the muffins. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteHello Milo. I hope you're doing fun things.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. ♥
mmmm buttermilk biscuits.
ReplyDeleteI need to try & do more things with dates. I see all the amazing sweet recipes people make with dates but Im too nervous for some reason to try any.
Some yummy-looking things coming out of your kitchen! I love minestrone soup and it would be perfect with those biscuits :) Sorry about Milo's grooming mishap - hope he is on the mend. I get nervous clipping nails, too. Give him a smooch from me. The pens look fun! x K
ReplyDeleteBiscuits and soup looks heavenly. I made cookies tonight.
ReplyDeletePoor Milo! Nice dog.
ReplyDeleteI like gathering my ingredients when cooking. Love seeing Milo. He looks like the softest dog. Sharing my favorite biscuit recipe with you. Super easy and delish every time.
ReplyDeleteWhipping Cream Biscuits: 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 & 1/4 cup self rising flour. Mix gently and turn out onto well floured surface. If the dough is too wet, just add a little more flour. Work gently and cut into biscuits of desired thickness. Bake at 400 degrees for about ten minutes. I usually just watch and see. I use my pizza stone. Very delicate and everyone loves them.
Wonderful looking biscuits, LeeAnna, and more fun than packaged. I'm glad Milo is on the mend... again.
ReplyDeleteI would love to hang out with you in your kitchen for a day. I find cooking both fun and relaxing. I have a recipe for chocolate chip cookies that uses dates. (They are super yummy!)
ReplyDeleteLA - I am not sure I had eaten a date until my husband bought some a few years ago. I love them, although I can only eat a few at a time with the strong sugar taste. I don't mind messing up a batch of biscuits if it means I need to make another batch! I feel for Milo and any dog that goes out in the snow regularly - that hair causes big, painful ice balls!
