sewing saturday almost Christmas

 

For this week's round up, I am showing a UFO... from a few years ago. It was a kit I think, from the now closed Seminole Sampler in Maryland. It's all fused with so many layers it's stiff. I think I need a border of maybe half stars or some really cute santa fabric from my stash

Heaven knows I do not plan on going around all these little pieces of fabric, which is why it's still a UFO...

I wanted to make three new stockings for us, and have plans...

Mine will sport a sugarplum fairy ballet dancer with a flamingo

Milo's will be stripes of these fabrics...









with the red poodles on toe and heel

Not made yet of course. I did start a pair of socks for dh's giftie last night. 

I took a youtube free 5-day drawing class with Joanna Basford and this is my sketchbook

yesterday I showed them inked in, but then I had to go back and color them too!

For the RSC dark neutrals this month challenge, last week's lozenge block cut offs became this 

a simple X for hugs, plus some scrap strips on the side... who knows what this will grow into. Or this one from the orange month, I decided to border in a batik strip scrap

after rejecting these stash possibilities... so hard to pick the right tone and pattern, right?

handwork... and fun planning work...

isn't it fun to look through your books for possible blocks or quilts to make?

    Gorgeous work! You are so talented. I have a stack of books right next to me that I've been going through for ideas, which is great fun but might prompt me to start more squirrels.

    Your Santa piece is so cute - I'll enjoy seeing what you do with it. I've been fascinated by the fun pieces you've made out of the triangle cutoffs from each months lozenge blocks, too. HSTs have so many design possibilities!

    I was quite impressed with Johanna’s video and you have drawn her wreath beautifully, LeeAnna. I like the old fashioned kind of look of that Santa. I also love to see how you use improv to have fun with your stitching.

    I have some cookie presses to make the designs but you could just roll into balls and use a glass or other item to flatten them out.
