sewing Saturday.... bunny

welcome to sewing Saturday, and just look how the bunny quilt came out!
So springy!(more about that in a minute!)

As  I was putting away the blue log cabins I decided to put all the blocks done for  the rainbow scrap challenge up on the wall just to see. January (bright greens) February (orange) March (aqua and turquoise) April (light and bright blue)

I have no idea how these will go together!!
I made a mask for myself out of a pink scrap that's been in the stash a while
(https://www.prettyhandygirl.com/best-fit-facemask/)
The bunny quilt was waiting for me... I pulled out some cute embellishments
decided on some iridescent sequins and pearl seed beads to hold them on, some flowers, a sweet word to remind me to smile this month, and put on a binding of two colors.
I had a wonderful long video chat with my good friend Cindy on Friday. It lifted my spirits so much I went on to put sequins along the sky line on bunny! While I talked later to Mary (she was mulching) I sewed on the sequins by hand with an iridescent stop bead. So calming to do!

added a couple flowers too
note the different stitches used in quilting to hold the applique down. See the little tiny mulitcolored strip cut with pinking shears along the leaf and horizon??

The back of it... pretty floral!

To bind the edges, I used a sky like color for the top, and a pretty multi toned green for the bottom so the edge defines it but doesn't take any attention from it.

I did regular single fold binding to reduce bulk. Peltex is used instead of batting to give it substance so it can sit on the easel

It finishes at 12" X 12"

You can see the floral backing through the sky fabric but that's okay. It's very innocent and childlike, but  liked the process, the words on the tail (magic and merriment) the word smile. It's a happy quilt.

My childhood was a serious affair... but around age 15 I found a resin word to hang on the wall of my room, SMILE,  so it was fun to find this in my embellishments stash!

  11. Your bunny is wonderful. So cute. I should get over my aversion to applique so I can make one, although I do have an unfinished bunny applique somewhere.
