green chandelier blocks

I have three sets of blocks going for the Rainbow Scrap challenge. This month the color is GREEN so I made some green chandelier blocks this week. The free pattern came from Stitch Therapy and the block size is 6" finished.

I probably have more green scraps than others, but while digging through the three little bins this week, I realized a lot of them are dark, or grayed out. Maybe I've culled out the brighter clearer greens over the years.

This pattern calls for small pieces which is nice, for a mix of pattern, tone, and availability. If possible I try to cut something close to the size I need, so stingy with fabric when I have so much! It's just when you see a cute pattern like the cow or light bulbs, you hate to cut into a big usable piece to get a 2" or 3 1/2" piece. Still... a quilt needs cuteness.

It needs to sing!
I'm using up scraps, plus scraps from the beige/white bin. It's finally getting small enough to close the lid! After the Valentine quilt and two of the RSC blocks this time! Kind of nice to whittle it down a bit.

I mean one doesn't want to use up anything totally, right? In case that fabric would be perfect for the next landscape, or gemstone, or whatever!

So when done, I pulled out the red, and yellow blocks and put them up to see how it might go together.

Crikey! Now I see I'll have to make some decisions... keep colors together in lines? or Mix them up?

Get a bigger design wall? I hope this turns into an actual bed quilt to use in summer and we have a King mattress. I've never paid a long arm quilter but because this is set on point, I am not sure if I want to quilt it myself in sections... which will be yet another decision to make.
