We've been trying to settle in to our new digs, and find things we need. We have had three snow storms in the week we've been here, and unlike what people said to us, it does not melt in a day.
Not yet, I suppose there may come a time when it does that.
I did a special I Like post on Christmas Eve, and if you missed it, look here: ( special-i-like-post)
I do not like everything about this place right now. I will not go into all that but I will continue to seek the things I do like, and share them here.
I like the wide deep carpeted stairs in the rental. Milo can easily use them, which is a godsend. I also like the metal posts.
He likes to perch on this landing to keep an eye on both of us, one upstairs, one downstairs.
I like the tall ceilings here, and the general layout of the house. This is something I didn't realize I would like and wouldn't have known before living here. I don't know if learning that is worth the nearly $3000 a month we're paying to rent but it's still good to know.
Look what was in the mail today!!! A surprise from my friend Jeanette in MN!
ART
Just what the doctor ordered!!!!
"just a little housewarming gift" she said.
ADORBS! I love the script fabric, the painting, the kitty! Hearts! crystals!
I believe I may just use the mug rug for my mouse pad right now, so I can always look at the cheerful modern little bird winging love and color to me from a thoughtful friend!Look at the quilting, Jeannette's got a new quilting machine!
I like the Christmas gifts my friend Mary in Boulder gave me
the cows are on a washcloth, and the clothespins have sewing words |
, even though this year was too chaotic for me to think about shopping for gifts. She just freely celebrated our friendship and gave me lovely sewing items and they were gratefully appreciated! Can't wait to do something artistic again. She also invited us for Christmas day dinner so that we were not so lonely sitting here amid boxes.
that's a dog, not a pig with that silly pink nose!! What were they thinking? |
I like Snowbabies stautes, and we try to get one each year at Christmas. This year we found one at the after Christmas sale (half price) to match the year's event. It's called Travel Buddies
look how they wrapped it in a tissue dress pattern!!! So cute! |
mighty little people! |
I'm walking around unlaced for now |
When we took over this rental from DH's coworker, we had to move to digital cable service for the TV. I now have to learn how to use the blankety blank xfinity with it's hundreds of repeat channels, it's high numbers to remember, it's vast bank of sports and Spanish channels I do not want nor need.
Still, I Like cable tv
I am trying to figure out how to use the DVR. By trial and error I was able to replay the Survivor episode I recorded and I liked being able to see that. I have always loved Survivor and especially this season.
Amazing Race is soon to start... yea! We both love that show, and DH wishes he could race in it.
Milo has some likes this week. While he does not like being left in this strange house while we go shopping, he did enjoy a gift from his faraway friend Phenny (short for Phoenix) in France.
By enjoy, I mean he destroyed it in more than one sitting. He also aged into Whimsey's so he enjoyed one all over Mary's rug on Christmas day!
Please enjoy the video of his quiet destruction here....
Please visit these fine folks keeping it positive and as always, if you want to join our merry clan, let me know you wrote a post and I'll add you in!

So glad you had somewhere to go on Christmas. My first glance at your rental and I thought "it's so not them." Let me tell you, though, after living with high ceilings for the last 9 years, I feel claustrophobic when looking at houses with 8-foot ceilings now. Best wishes for a peace-filled new year!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays! Milo's coat is such a dark black compared to Scout's, couldn't stop staring at that video! He is such a character! What a cutie pie!
ReplyDeleteWe definitely did have a frigid spell there for a few days, and there is ice in our neighborhood, too, where people didn't shovel. I really *dislike* that not shoveling business, when I want to go for my daily walk! Hopefully there'll be some melting today and tomorrow with the nicer temperatures. I do like your new shoes - perfect for the snow! We have had family visiting recently, but I'll try to be in touch soon!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe we just switched from dish TV to an antenna and Roku. (LOVE IT!) And no more monthly payment! Girl, now that you live in colorado you may have to look into buying yourself a pair of Boggs. (You will love them as they come in wonderful patterns and colors!) Here's a link to mine:https://myplvl.blogspot.com/2014/01/play-and-create.html
ReplyDeleteMilo sure has some fun. I hope you have a Happy New Year. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun decorations and gifts! Milo is certainly spoiled for choice in the toy department!
ReplyDeleteWell, these are hand me downs from Cole who was not a toy guy in particular. Milo is working his way through them to destroy.
Delete...wow, nearly $3000 a month rent!
ReplyDeleteLove those mug rugs! Tall ceilings and open space is pretty, but not great with one person that tends to be noisy, and another that likes it quiet... the noise travels! Makes it hard to use a space heater, too. But that's my opinion. ;-) So glad to see you settling in!
ReplyDeleteYou got some really neat gifts and I love your boots! I'm off to look at your other post too! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi LeeAnna,
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to see you are getting settled. What a huge job . . . and three snowstorms too. How fun. Not! Those boots look nice and warm - feet get bigger as we age? I didn't know that. I thought it was just me and the darn bone spurs making me wear a larger size or backless shoes (not so easy in the winter). {{Hugs}} I have been thinking of you all week, hoping things were going better for you. Happy New Year my friend! ~smile~ Roseanne
Pretty rental house. High ceilings are nice, but not when you need to heat them. Like your snowbaby with the pig...ROFL because honestly that is what I thought when I first saw it. LOL Like your other little whimsical people. So glad you had someone invite you to Christmas dinner, it makes it feel not so displaced. ROFL Xfinity....I have a story, about the great aunt and uncle's housekeeper switching them over to xfinity....teaching 85 year old and 91 year old people about it....even with their list I would make them almost every 2-3 days can you come fix my TV. Yep I can relate with the shoes/snowboots. I learned a couple of years ago your feet keep growing. Glad I live in the Midwest I worry about being mistaken for Bigfoot now.
ReplyDeleteLove the cow wash cloth! Like your post on my blog, I find it fascinating to discover someone else who collects cows.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have a friend near you - especially one who knows you both need to celebrate somewhere other than amongst boxes on Christmas Day.
I like that you are choosing to look at the bright side and not dwell on the negative, well, at least to us publicly). I would think it would be hard to move in the winter when it's harder to get outside and check out the lay of the land, but, of course, it's hard to move anytime. I'm glad you had a Christmas dinner invite, too.
ReplyDeleteNice to see that Milo seems to be adjusting. Going cross country in a car is tough for anyone, but for a dog it must be disconcerting.
Have a Happy New Year. You will be back to creating before you know it.

Love the artwork you received! Milo looks so cute; glad he can navigate those stairs. Choke! on how much rent you're having to pay, and guffaw! on the locals being all blasé (read delusional) regarding snow. Further north in Alberta, they're the same! However, most of the continent is mired in this polar vortex, brrr. Moving is no fun; glad you're finding things for which to be grateful.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Milo has the perfect spot to watch both upstairs and downstairs.
ReplyDeleteI love the artwork.
Try to stay warm. I doubt that I would survive that weather. ;-)
It's nice to find new things to be thankful for. Looks like Milo is having the best time ever too, especially in destroying that toy... I do the same with mice and know how the urge takes over MOL
ReplyDeleteToodle pips and festive purrs

It's great you have so many things to be thankful for and I love that Mio looks so content on the stairs!
ReplyDeleteI love running up and down mum and dad's staircase - I am very thankful for that fun!
Lots of licks, your good friend Morrie :)
I live somewhere I don't much like but it has really sharpened my understanding of what matters to me in a space, so I guess this house will teach you some stuff - high ceilings sound nice and the stairs look good.
ReplyDeleteI continue to be impressed by your positive approach! Your friends are certainly helping make you feel right at home. I noticed the railings in your first post about your new digs - I like them, too. In our time here in Montana, I have found that there is often ice lurking under the snow, so if I am doing a lot of walking, I put Traxx on my boots - highly recommend them! I get what you are saying about technology - it can be frustrating ... wishing you a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet dog! Loved the mouse pad and the little people. Looks like some wonderful small things to love. Have a wonderful New Year!
ReplyDeleteThose melting storms are more for spring storms, not at the beginning of the season. Wishing you and yours all the best in 2018. Let's get together soon!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the little quilt with the black kitty the best! Mom says she's pretty sure the artist of your girl and boy figures is Lori Mitchell. Mom has a little Halloween witch by her. You can find others by her for different holidays at: christmastraditions.com. Wishing you a Happy Mew Year! -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews
ReplyDeleteThat Milo is a real cutie!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up at Create, Bake, Grow & Gather this week. May your New Year be filled with lots of creative endeavours!!
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
lucky you to receive such thoughtful gifts! i like the idea of using that as a mouse pad too, very cheery! glad milo is liking his new home! thank you for linking up with willy nilly...hope your snow has started to melt!
