No piece is too small to Dither Over... opinions welcomed!

When I found myself with a couple hours to sew, and a poodle napping in the studio, I pulled out this project as it was on the top layer of the cutting table!
I finished the little pinwheel border after deciding to cut off the "stamp" edge of the motif. I had to add some filler strips to fit the border, again out of scrap bin.

Now the real work begins... choice making! Want to see what it's like, having too many choices?

what if I add this watery batik? With some pink rick rack?
what if I add this sparkly bright blue, and some rainbow rick rack?
Here it is without any rick rack, but with the sparkly blue and a little bit of water batik (sewn on)

what about a change of pace... this pinky sunrise with lots of birds...

or this bubble print with pink blue and purple?
I'm not even planning to sell or exhibit this! Why am I having so much trouble?
I am having some major life changes. My health is causing us to have to move to a more hospitable environment, with all the insecurities of moving house, leaving friends and the known, and stretching ourselves.
Making art should be easy. Get out of the way, and art makes itself.
Right.

Then there is this yellow with purple sunrise fabric. And then embellishments like the starfish Mickie sent me as a surprise one day!

Help me!

  1. The rick rack would make a nice edge caught between the top of the quilt and the facing. The color repeats the middle motif and would tie it all together IMO. It could be showing just halfway in the seam or the bumps could be tacked before completing the facing seam to be sure more of the rick rack shows.

  2. The pinky sunrise! It's really looking pretty. I moved (across town) 2 years ago ,sold my home and moved into a smaller rental. It was very traumatic for a year but so happy I made that decision. I hope you find something quickly so you feel better. mary in Az

  3. I love the pink rick-rack! And I think Yarn Goddess is right about maybe using it in the facing. It would be fun to have it in the facing and in the border, sort of a rick rack echo! I'm sorry you're struggling! And I know how frustrating it is when the art (which should be fun) just adds to the stress!

  6. The rick rack is great and not usually a choice for me. Love it mixed with the pinwheels on blue. With so much unsettled around you, of course you doubt your selection. Pick what you like or expresses your present feeling. Sending hugs and good thoughts for today.

  9. I like the next to last one, bubble, with the pink rick rack around the middle and peaking out of border and the gold starfish added.
Where ever you go you will meet new friends. Having made the decision to move, try to embrace the new area, there will be lots to explore and Milo will be an ice breaker.

  10. Love the starfish. Really like the pink rick-rack. No matter what you choose, this is a fun piece. It makes me smile.

  11. The starfish are perfect on it. I like it without the rick-rack but if you used one I think the second one works better. It's so cute just as it is, even without the background. But, in the end, it has to please YOUR eye. So which one makes you smile the most?

  12. The last one--maybe because it's the last one I saw. But I really like the touch with the starfish. And they were a gift. The rick rack is cute, but gives me flashbacks to all the hand-me-down dresses I wore after who knows how many cousins wore them. My mom (lovingly, I'm sure) sewed rick rack to hide the fade lines where the hems had been let down. Kind of a stigma attached to them for me. But my memories aren't yours, so do whatever makes you happy every time you see it. I'm impressed with all the different variations you were able to pull out.

  13. I really like the multi-colored rick-rack; it reminds me of the perforations that sheets of stamps have/used to have. Have you tried that with the yellow and purple background?

  14. Well, I love the starfish! They add something very fun to an already fun piece! I think these kinds of decisions are the kind that are good for calming your brain when other big life decisions are boggling it. Hugs!

  16. Aw, sweetie, stop and breathe! If it's too hard to decide, then it's not yet time to decide. (Though I have to admit I like that pink rickrack, and I don't even like pink...)

  19. I'm sorry to hear that you're having health issues that need a move. That's no fun at all. (been out of my blogging loop for a while and have missed following folks like you) Do you already know where you're going? Hopefully your mind will find enough peace again to feel comfortable in your art play.

  22. I like them all and think you should pick YOUR favorite... I didn't realize it was issues with your health that is causing you to move. But from a selfish standpoint, you'll be a lot closer to where I live! xo

  25. Sorry to hear about your health problems. It is very draining to move, no matter how much it is necessary, so I hope you and hubby pull together towards the shore!

  26. Hi Leeanna! My favorite is the multi-color rick rack and the pink is my second. Lots of great choices! I love getting feedback on color and fabric choices too. It's a great way to narrow it down. I love hearing other's opinions.

  27. I'm in the minority, but I like the bubble print with pink, blue, and purple. It brings out the color of the middle. The starfish are delightful.
