Boy time flies! I have a lot of blocks to turn into something. I realized it's the one block a month I like, even with as many as four series going a year.
The fun is in doing one cow in a color for instance, one flamingo or guitar a month. Seeing them accumulate.
I made this little book with a list of ideas for just rainbow scrap challenge blocks this year as well as lists of previous year's blocks.
I like the idea of this bear's paw block too, and printed it out to use for my little folding book.

Who knows what the colorful leaves will become. Something bold and graphic, representing growth.

i love making little books for notes 2! What a fun way to keep somewhat organized, well at least have some in one area. i made one awhile back that named "Splendid Pronouncements" where quotes and other strings of words i hear/or make up that hold a meaning/picture that rings true to me can live, together. ReplyDeleteYou've got some delicious PURPLE scraps there!! My lists are typically held within one of three quilt notebooks that I have in my studio. Even the little booklets like you've made... I can find a way to misplace them!! Come to think of it, I actually lost my newest quilting notebook, too. Hoping to find it before my Longarm Meeting next month!!

ReplyDeleteI use composition books around the house and have a small moleskin journal in my purse for notes and such. Like you say, harder to misplace than a scrap of paper.

ReplyDeleteYour leaves look great on that background fabric. I have a list of projects in an old notebook. I also have one on the side bar of my blog. But, I'm like a squirrel and an easily distracted by other projects! Lol!

ReplyDeletePerhaps you have suggested a cool new project without knowing it...do all your block of the month projects need to turn into quilts? Can't you make them into block of the month fabric books? Celebrate each month as a finished unit (page) and each year as a finished book. And your book collection could then become another one of your special collections!

ReplyDeleteI like your book idea, especially the cover! I often see ideas I want to try, and if I don't write them down, I definitely forget them. Usually mine go in a note on my iPad. Those purple leaves are fun!

ReplyDeleteI have general notebooks for general concepts. I lose them. This flat book stays in the RSC block box so it's always there. It's just for that project.

Purple leaves, why not? Years ago in our WA guild a gal started making Paper a Pieces in that stiff paper and it became,her business. I still have some blocks with the papers still in them. I like what you said about pulling the thread through, so precise.

ReplyDeleteI sometimes think the main reason I started a blog was because I kept losing my lists and notes to myself - I finally made a place where I couldn't lose things. Finding lots of people I like was a serendipitous bonus!
Okay, that's a start. I started some orange peels or whatever they're called, last year but didn't get very far. Off to FL Tuesday AM, but I'll be following. Got to keep an eye on you.

I saw myself in your post. I also love the process of making one block a month and watching them add up. I am continuing my RSC16 blocks this year but also want to start a new block too. January is almost done and I haven't done any purple blocks for RSC17 yet. But I do have one cut out.

ReplyDeleteI thought those leaves were actually stitched down onto a pillow! Which is not a bad idea --- add some embellishment (beads, embroidery) or couching....ooohh, so much pretty purple potential! I know you will have fun with them!
