A fall walkabout

On a recent walkabout in another city, my husband noticed this little pumpkin.

How Adorable!!!
Wish I knew where to find the bits to make one for myself!
We walked around a neighborhood like one I grew up in, with sidewalks and pretty homes like this
I liked just everything about this house. From the welcoming statue to the windows, roof shingles, and trees
and we tarried so long, the owner came out to chat, and his dog bolted out the door to greet us
that picture was taken on the run as he never slowed down. He jumped on each of us, and circled immediately to return to the house. I thought, well, a drive-by petting... but no, he ran right back for us with a big plastic ball in his mouth!! The owners had driven to VA to a kill shelter to take him the day before he was to be put to sleep. What a gorgeous animal, full of love and joie de vivre.
What breed is he? Big.

We met this cat who again ran out to walk with us for a bit

 MEOW!
Love!

I have written a short story about our magical meetings with cats, I will share tomorrow.

I hope you come back to see...

We had  lunch at  Crackerbarrel. For my friends around the world, it's Southern home-cooking style food and there is a gift shop in the entrance. They have moved on to Christmas including this for a BIG stocking
and imagine being a child who wakes up to see these under the tree
What a cool display for a fancy house too. They had lots of REALLY BIG candies.
My favorite item, of course, was the rocking horse...
  .........er..... rocking Cow...
Hope you enjoyed hearing about our little jaunt. Are you decorating for Fall or have you moved on to Christmas?

  1. Those turkey parts might be available at Jo-Ann. Did you know Cracker Barrel doesn't let their coffee get older than 20 minutes? Love their audiobook program, too.

  14. What sweet little animal friends you met! Although that story about the big and friendly guy breaks my heart a little. It's sad to think that's still happening.
