Pink Prisms

This is my  finished pink prism block for this month's rainbow scrap challenge.
Just like before, I sewed strips of any width, but at least 16" long together from the scrap bin.

After carefully aligning the 15" square template along the lines, I trimmed the dark pinks to 15" square

And the light ones to same size...

Get a gander at some of these cute prints... crowns and strawberry shortcake, curtesy of my friend Cynthia.
It's win win, she gets rid of stuff she doesn't want, I get a blend of new scraps.

It's a brilliant block, rivaling the orange for sparkle.

Next are a series of pics changing placement or orientation of the blocks completed so far.
such BIG BLOCKS!

pink on top but random orientation
pink in the center, random orientation
This shot is rearranged by color, and has darks meeting in sections...
it is going to be a challenge to choose an arrangement but time will tell, after all 12 colors are made. I'll  quilt the blocks, then join them and sash with narrow black strips. That should make it about 60-ish by 80-ish

  2. Hope you didn't mean sashing between the blocks, 'cause they look absolutely wonderful edge to edge. This project is lovely!

  3. This is going to be amazing! And on my list! I think what I love most, is that the prints don't stand out. That's me being afraid of prints...but I love this!

  10. Your string blocks are always so appealing. Are they skinny strings and that's what make them look so good.

  11. they are what they are in the scrap bin... from 3/4" to 3" strip widths. I do play with arrangements before sewing. LeeAnna

  33. The blocks are great. They look beautiful together. I don't think there is much difference in the layouts. There may be more difference when all the blocks are done.
