Remember our Saturday walkabout trip to the farmer's market? Got these two odd pumpkins. Leave it to me to be attracted to the weirder ones! I thought of several pix of twos I've been collecting so I thought I would share them... Ready for some twosomes?

... do you notice how things like this crop up? Coincidences? Tell me about them!
When the 'twos' overlap, they become one, especially when they fill up the space. With the boats, I think a single boat would be better.

ReplyDeleteI think that when you decide to look for something you usually find it. Your "twos" photos are interesting; I'm going to look for twos today and see what I find.
ReplyDeletethat's the thing... I noticed all the "twos" while looking through my pix. And the question for me remains, when odd numbers are better for composition, why do I like these twos so much??

I think even numbers tend to split things in half producing a symmetrical layout. I think generally that asymmetrical layouts are more pleasing.
ReplyDeleteLeeAnna, I agree with what Barb said on Quiltart. While your photo's do have two things in them, there are other elements that make a difference. At least to me. the only exception is the boat picture. For some reason that picture does not work for me. Perhaps it is the fact that the two boats are so far apart. Your other photos show your two items close. I'm not sure if that is the reason it doesn't work for me or not but that is what I feel is the reason.

ReplyDeleteHere, you'll see a lotof two's in the windows . 2 vase, 2 plants, 2 figures, 2's, 2's, 2's, ...it was quite the interior design trend for years. And outside on the garden table as well. Now things are slowly changing too! When planting, the advice is to use odd numbers in groupings. 1 is also a group in my garden ! :)

I agree with the first responder, Ann, who said that the twos are touching which makes them one. I also don't care for the boats, except that an added and differing element would pull them together, even if its dandelions between them. Of course there would then be three. Interesting convo Lee Anna, thanks!
