Orange you glad you're a flamingo??

These blocks from Sew Precise are sized at 4" X 6"
The flamingos are back and they're wearing orange this time, in honor of the rainbow scrap challenge color of the month. Looking good on them... in fact my native Florida Flamingos wore orange a lot.
When I was a young thing, I often went to hear my favorite trio play music. Jazzy music, with a piano, harmonica, and the washboard played by Flo Mingo. She was gorgeous, tall, thin, long curly dark hair, big smile, deep smoky voice. I mean, I already loved flamingos but she was the icing on the cake!

When you start these blocks you have to get a pile of sky scraps and water scraps all ready....then match them to the body fabric tones....                      you can click on any image to make it larger

Sparkling water!!
This time I did not have the patience to do the teensy little beak with paper piecing, so I inked one in...
with these
And here's the whole flock as it "stands" (on one leg) now... missing a couple colors....
How will I set them??? I already have a working title

  1. I really like your flamingos! What fun to see (most) of them together. Can't wait for your finished top. You are so talented to ink the beaks. I'd be afraid to mess up a beautiful block.

    1. mess up... yes I've gotten pretty cheeky over the years... I've drawn painted pieced so many flamingos that I don't worry it. Just start in with the pens. It usually works out. If it doesn't there's always applique! LEeAnna

  6. This month's water effect is a nice variation and I like the way you've made some of the flamingoes in mirror image. However you set them they are going to be stunning.

  10. Wonderful flamingos. Its great to see them all together. Oh...and I saw your comment on Paula B's blog that you'd like a kitten delivered to your door. Do you want me to deliver an orange marmalade kitten or will any color do?

  14. These two look so proud in their orange color. The whole flock looks like they are getting ready for takeoff. If a marmalade kitten shows up, please do not send it to me. I still miss Popper.

    1. these were from sew precise and I sized them to 6 inches, throwing away all but the flamingo so they finish 4 in by 6 in and I add bottom fabric for water or top fabric for sky at my whim.
