Oh, My darlin' Clementine!

Oh my darlin' Clementine!
This month at the RSC 2015 our focus color is Orange. YEA! So sunny and happy! And seasonal... my mums are starting to color up.
Look at her... so happy and fun lovin'. Don't you want to be friends with her? I know I do.
Fresh like a clementine orange!
 Her likes are "cavorting, dancing, chewing cud, and painting her hooves"
Dislikes are "stick in the muds who can't let their milk down"

These fabrics didn't make the "cut" but will surface again with the teapots betcha! (except for that one with the metallic stars that melt when ironed...don't know what I can do with that gorgeous stuff)
It was a really hard decision because I wanted enough variation to see the lines but still stay basically in the same tone of orange. There are many you know...
on becoming a cow...
Also, I have been using scraps with a floral or organic print on all the cows and wanted to keep that going.

It occurs to me I could explain how I choose fabrics for a project...

 I lay out the fabrics in about the proportions needed. I don't lay them out in equal amounts or in yardage if I am using that.




 Color and print are relative to each other, so I make decisions according to the final proportions of a block.

I like the dashes of purple and green in here. I also like the mix of print from the leaves to the batik daisies to the vine on her body. Click on the top image to see it larger.
I ALLOWED  myself to use fabric scraps I've hoarded for a long time. I admit to going into the stash yardage for the face daisy batik although it had already been hacked into. It is a favorite because of the mix of color with an orange ground, and the print just makes me happy.
The last few cows...happy cows....

    Each one is cuter than the last. I like your method of auditioning your fabrics. Just a little touch of purple is perfect, but it might have scared you out of using it if you had auditioned a big piece. I plan to use this idea in the future. So logicl.

      very high praise from the Weimaraner !!
      Cole says it may be pretty if you can see color, but it has no flavor.
      Doesn't even smell like a cow...

    It's so amazing the different character that comes out depending on fabric choices. Clementine's shots of purple certainly say, "I'm not afraid of colour."

    When my son and his sweetie got a new orange cat I suggested Clementine for a name. But did they listen to me? Nooo! I love your orange cow and I like orange cats, too.

    They are happy cows! When I saw Clementine I smiled big time, and considering the day I'm having, it was an unexpected surprise. I doubt that I will get another smile all day. So, thanks for your happy cows! They do, indeed, make me happy. 😄

      I love your cows. I'm using the pattern to make pillows for Christmas for a bunch of young nieces. So far I have orange and a purple (Ogden Nash). Still need blue, red, pink, green, etc. Keep up the good work!

    Gosh! they are all just so flippin cute! I have the pattern printed but I am too chicken shit to actually sit down and try to make one as amazing as all of yours! Maybe one day! In the mean time,I am enjoying seeing your MooCows!

    As soon as I saw your orange cow I thought "what a happy looking cow." Love the line up pic of the happy cows. They look like they could be standing up on their hind feet with front hooves around each other doing a "line dance."
