My camera's color looks off, but the one on the left is kind of maroon on black, and the one on the right is bright candy-apple red!
I looked through my red scraps and tried to find some that had texture that would read as feathers.
I mean, it doesn't matter I could do polka dot flamingos but I thought I might try for texture.
See the little bi-planes?
see the little black threads from ripping out a seam?
so these were the fabrics I chose...
I used a black pen again, for the Goth lipstick.
I'm running out of sky scraps. For real! I might have to actually cut a slice of yardage, put it in the scrap bin, then say it's still a scrap block, lol!
Note these two are followers... facing life the same way... walking single file...the second one saying, "I got your back"
Your flamingos crack me up Leeanna! You do excellent paper piecing!
ReplyDeleteI love the wing/feather effect of the maroon/black flamingo, that looks amazing. Those biplanes are such a cute effect, too!! I couldn't tell what they were at first, but I love that so much!
ReplyDeleteI love your flamingo! And those bi-planes in the sky are perfect!
ReplyDeleteCute Flamingos!

ReplyDeleteHi LeeAnna,
ReplyDeleteYes, red is a difficult colour to photograph!
They look great here!
Take care,
Joanne
Brilliant feathery effect all right!

Where did you get the flamingo patterns? I LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteAs always, very creative! I always admire what you can do with a simple pattern.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm really catching up here! Cole, I feel your pain about thunder. Seamus is okay with it but both he and Greta poodled me during our city fireworks (we live on the hill above the stadium so it's REAL loud). Our first poodle, Paddie, used to sleep with us and it delighted me that she lwould try to push my hubs out of bed. I've seen crappy fabric but that black takes the cake. Hope you can figure what to do with the blocks. I love LOVE your flamingos and the goth lipstick is a hoot! What a playful block! Have a great week~ Hugs, Mickie
ReplyDeleteExcellent job with the 'textured feathers.' Well done. Have a super weekend.

Running out of scraps! Way to go. The texture on these birds is great. Way to let the fabric do the heavy lifting
ReplyDeleteJust awesome!
ReplyDeleteCharming plumage on both. I hope the maroon fellow is watching out for those biplanes buzzing his head.
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks! ! Perfect prints. Scraps, stash, doesn't matter. It's being turned into quilts and that is a good thing in my book.
ReplyDeleteI think you need to sew some blocks with sky blue... so you have more scraps! The flamingos in red are glorious.
