Just to round out the month at superscrappy a few dishes to go with my growing mismatched scrappy set.
Pretty much like the dishes we use.
We just replaced our worn out set of cobalt blue stoneware, pitted, chipped, scratched... with a few items from Crate and Barrel....
These are china instead of stoneware, lighter weight and hopefully stronger. We have four china plates white with a modern black line swoop that I got at the outlet and now blue sandwich plates and celadon green bowls. I like the mix of color! For china these were a bargain which is important to me.
It matters that my everyday plates make me happy. I seem to need replacements about every two years.
Well, they chip almost immediately, but we use them for another two years! lol!
The best thing about your fabric dinnerware is that it can't break, plus being so colorful. As for regular chinaware, celadon is my absolutely most favorite color, so subtle and soothing. Don't have any, though, because I stick with Corelle.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, congratulations on 21 years of marriage. We had 49 great ones.

ReplyDeleteNice dishes. Looks like you enjoy color in china and in fabric dishes.
ReplyDeleteLoving the little stack of dishware. You mentioned a growing collection. What will all of the little dishes become?
ReplyDeleteI have a variety of teapots, dishes, cups, creamers etc all in colors of the rainbows now... and when the year is over with scrap happy I'll figure out how to set them. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI love your scrappy dishes, and your IRL dishes are pretty, too!
ReplyDeleteReplacement plates every 2 years?! We've been using the SAME (Corelle ware) PLATES for 20 YEARS... and the SAME plates were used for I don't know HOW many years in my childhood home!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Corelleware is all white because the old yellow flowers on the rim are completely worn off. Wishing you much enjoyment in making your u breakable fabric table settings.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if I had your red little plates I would eat less. LOL. I look forward to seeing how you plan on using your rainbow blocks.
ReplyDeleteLook at those lovely dishes! Fabric AND china ones. Excellent work finding a bargain on those.
ReplyDeleteGreat little dishes - hearts and dots and a flowers to boot. Your dinner table must also be a colourful delight.
ReplyDeletesilly! as IF we eat at the table!! lol, we sit with dishes perched in our laps either outside or in front of the tv.

Ours chips almost immediately too! I wonder why that always happens? I generally take a permanent marker in the color and color it in until I have so many or don't have that color and then replace. What I have started doing is to grab random dishes at the Purple Cow Resale shop and add them in. I have gotten some interesting ones over the years!
ReplyDeleteMine doesn't chip... usually. But we have so many now that all the kids are out of the house. What fun to change them out.
ReplyDeleteWe use Fiestaware. Each of our dishes is a different color. It is so fun. Of course Mike is OCD, so he constantly arranging the plates in color order--he worked in prepress for over 20 years!
ReplyDeleteMixing colors in fabric pieces and in the kitchen is so fun! When we have guests everyone end up with their own personal combination of plates and glasses... and that's great especially when few pieces breaks, as you won't "break a set" ;) Thanks for sharing your progress!!
ReplyDeleteLove the dishes. Yikes on replacing your own so often. I used to buy full sets of dishes and when they were awful or too many were broken I would replace them.
ReplyDeleteLOL... that is so true! Love the red plates!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for red plates, fabric or otherwise! My current set of dinnerware is white with big red cherries around the edges. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove dishes! Mix and match! Two years ia a good average!
ReplyDeleteI do the dishes by hand and one by one there's room for more!
Take care,
Joanne

Cute red dishes. These you don't have to be so careful with.
ReplyDeleteI love your dishes! Enjoy watching your dishes, tea pots, etc in each month's RSC color. My dishes don't match, love the variety. We fill our plates in the kitchen and eat watching tv and talking with each other in the family room.
