I love a hexie! L O V E
When I spied these 1/4 inch papers I knew what the finished piece would look like, and I'm on my way!
I am linking to slow stitching Sunday linky party
Find the list here! with this s-l-o-w worked piece.
I made a tiny flower unit to applique on to a block for a friend of mine, and it's just so wee and cute.
I'm basting them just inside the fabric not around the little paper template you see there. I am actually pulling out the paper as it's surrounded.
Lessons learned:
* smaller takes longer
* now I can't throw away any scrap 1 inch or larger
* bright colors sing, no matter the size
* lime green is a neutral (well, I knew that already)
* some projects are just going to take a while
I'll always have a hand project available!
LeeAnna
I have a few Hexagon projects but nothing that small. Love the colour. Yes I believe Lime green is a neutral too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Makes mine look huge.
ReplyDeleteThese are so crazy! Haven't seen them this small, but so cute.
ReplyDeleteLove the rich colors. Found you on Off the Wall Fridays! A Treat!
ReplyDeleteYou've lost it:) It's official. 1/4" is sooo tiny! Looks pretty cool though I have to admit.
ReplyDeleteHi LeeAnna!
ReplyDeleteWow ! Imagine all the design ideas and detail one can create!
You're up for a challenge!
Have fun!
Take care,
Joanne
Fantastic! Green in between is just beautiful. I never throw away any scraps, as I also make such small hexies.
ReplyDeleteSooo pretty! Love the "lessons learned" summary :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up!
So bright and cheerful....just gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG! only a quarter inch? Whaaaat, are you crazy? I must admit, it does look fabulous though. (You must be a very patient person - or a patient, anyway.) LOL
ReplyDeleteHugs
Hand projects always take a while ... but the process is so pleasurable and the end result is so worth it all! Having said that, I'm just not sure that I have the dexterity or eyesight to be able to do 1/4" hexies. But they sure are cute!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome little hexies LeeAnna. Waaay too small for me LOL. What are your plans for it, or are you just waiting to see what comes out at the end?
ReplyDeleteOh my ! I have seen it all. 1/4 inch!! WOW you have guts girl !! Your project looks AMAZING so far. Hang in there and you have a bed quilt someday. ;) (ok, I'll never complain again that mine is taking a long long time, promise.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing

ReplyDelete...and I thought my 3/4" hexi was small. These are darling but you are so right when ya say:"smaller takes longer!"

I love hexies! Yours are gorgeous and if you're a hoarder (like me) this size means most scraps are usable.
ReplyDeleteBut I must admit I prefer long hexies because they're quicker (I've been working on my hexie quilt for years now).
Dropping by from Freshly Pieced. xx
These are amazing!! Now I'm not saying I'm going to try it or anything but WOW! How cool is that??? You go girl!! :)
ReplyDeletemy goodness, I thought my 5/8" ones were small -- lovely!
ReplyDeleteWOW LeeAnna, those are teeny tiny. I am totally impressed. Maggie
ReplyDeleteI am a hexi-holic too. I have made done 1/4"-ers as well. They are tougher on the hands though. Love your project!
