I usually answer with my job, because I do love that work. But occasionally I throw the curve ball of quilting or dancing. lol. I'll need to remember to be more specific when asking people what they do. I like that!PaintedThreadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07430500003121265452noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6514394646355489375.post-86027667015335022782019-12-09T16:45:04.157-08:002019-12-09T16:45:04.157-08:00A very thoughtful post! And you're so right about the drivel that people use to socialize/attempt to connect...to me it's too boring. It reminds me of the old days when people used to smoke in restaurants, bars, people's houses...they'd say "mind if I smoke?" and just light up without hearing the response! I heard a Steve Martin bit from the 1970's, he said when people say "mind if I smoke?" he responds with "mind if I fart?" LOL...I love that and one day I promise I'll say it hee hee.

Another thing I can't stand is "so, tell me about your family"...If I really tell them about my (former) family, I think they'd have nightmares lol...the whole small talk thing and the empty questions...that's just one of the reasons I really don't socialize.

Alex and I keep to ourselves and we just like our own company. We feel that "forced" socialization is just too emotionally draining. I have better conversations with my Blogging friends! Sometimes it's worth it to come up with some fantastical line just to see the look on their face! I do like your conversation starter questions. Only those people who truly care about knowing another would stick around and continue the conversation.....which is really all we want in the first place, right?! If not, I'm all for finding the dog.
