I Like Thursday # 463 skies, books, hula hoops!

blue skies over the driving range

it's summer y'all... in case the 100 F. temps didn't convey that.... Summer in Colorado is hot hot hot.

the fields are full of wild growth creating vistas

we are at a higher altitude than Denver even, and the sun takes full advantage of thin altitude.

the lawn ornaments might melt

some might have given up!

Found: sneakers (at last)

I think I have finally found sneakers that feel fairly good (although not a lot of arch support)
legs may appear larger than in real life!
These are RYKA brand, cushy from the first wearing with room for toes

Audio books turned into movies on hallmark

I love Jude Devereaux and now this trilogy is turned into movies on Hallmark.

Across time, love continues through many lifetimes

Our conversation starter this week

are you able to  hula hoop? as a child, did you or a friend have one and learn to use it?  What do you remember about them?

I had one like most people my age, but never mastered it. Along with walk the dog using a yo-yo, LOL

I tried, and practiced and never got the balance.... Mine was bright pink, maybe even made a shoop-shoop sound, and was frustrated that my friends could do it. I actually still wish I could do it!

Me (saying to my first poodle Cole) "let's play jump through the hoop!"

Cole's response  "what fresh hell is this?"

as always, I love creating with fabric, example
the color of the month at rainbow scrap challenge is aqua to turquoise/teal and I notice things along my walks in that color.... eeeeeeeek!
unfortunately I think it was dead, but it was a brilliant blue
this tree reminded me of the apple tree in Wizard of Oz
trees have a hard life in Colorado

classified notice:

still seeking a poodle to love
(talked to a standard poodle fostering to adoption this week... but the poodle is over 80 lbs, and yanks people off their pins on walks... reactive to other dogs and prey to the point I'd be injured if yanked by her sideways) I'm open.... appreciate your wishes for me to find a non shedding dog to adopt

watching on video

how do you like a swimming pool?

can't show video here, go to youtube via link to see the bears in swimming pool, sorry

this much?  (link to that video)

  1. I didn't own a hula hoop but we used them at school in gym class. I could usually manage a few rotations around my waist/hips before it would fall down. I never really saw the point of it all and thought hula hoops were stupid. Of course, I thought all of gym class was stupid.

  2. Yep... the older we get, the more important those comfortable shoes are. Who knew arch support would be such an important thing!

  3. Good shoes are a must for us walkers - glad you found some you like! It was fun thinking about the hula hoops this week - I do remember that sound they made. Fingers crossed you find the best poodle for you! They are definitely the dog to have if you don't want shedding.

  4. Giggles, those goldens are a hoot. Two of three goldens we have had wanted nothing to do with the water!

  5. You are fun to hang out with! Let's not forget that chubby checker and the twist had a lot to do with the hula hoop, or at least they seemed like cousins. Delightful post aloha. Thanks for the companionable link up. That's really sweet of you. And thanks for always uplifting us in challenging times. Double aloha

  6. Oh yes, the good old hula hoop, I had a blue one and was fairly good at that and the yo-yo thing too. When I saw that tree I immediately thought of the Wizard too. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  7. What a gorgeous sky and I love Jude Devereaux books too. I did have a hula hoop but I wasn't very good at keeping it up on my hips!

  8. Yea to finding good shoes for walking, an essential item for sure and surprisingly challenging to find. Great post as always...an aqua snake...that's got to be a rarity! Beautiful tree. Thinking about you and the dog looking....

  9. I loved the hula hoop which I think came out in the late 50's. At any rate, I was pretty good at it. I could hula and walk-it impressed my younger siblings. Not a great life skill but always good for the ego, eh? ;)

I laughed out loud with your Cole comment (what fresh hell is this). I can just see the disapproving poodle look! Hang in there with your poodle search. The right one will come along. We're sending all kinds of pawsitive thoughts it will be soon. 🤞🏼 Hugs and tail wiggles.

  11. Yes, I had a hoola-hoop and could use it. It was fun.
    Congratulations for getting comfortable sneakers.
You made me smile with that video of the 'naughty' dogs.
    Have a great weekend,
    Lisca

  12. We had hula hoops at school but they were big heavy cane things.

  13. I can't stress enough how wonderful it is to have a mini poodle. If he is naughty on our walk, I pick him up. He fits nicely on my lap when we watch tv at night (I even hand sew with him there). Hope you find a baby soon!

  14. I'm a fan of Jude Deveraux too and am glad to hear that there will be movies on Hallmark. Will have to watch for them here.
As for a hula hoop, I don't remember ever using one, nor do I remember seeing any on the playground. Us girls mostly skipped (some of the boys did too).

  15. That snake is pretty....but not one I need to cross my path! Never got the hang of the hula hoop. I hope the perfect dog comes your way soon; it is hard to wait when your heart is ready to love again.

  16. I played with hula hoops as a child, but I was never too interested in them. As an adult I can get it going, but can't keep it going! lol Thank you for linking up!
