Caption this picture...

Cole is very sick. I haven't shared much but he has cancer. He won't be with us long but every day is a gift.

He also has old joints that no longer work well when he tries to stand.
One of his habits it to come in from a walk, ditch the leash and sprawl out on the cool tiles.

He sprained his leg scrabbling to stand one day, so we banned the tiles.

Then we told him he couldn't lie down there. Then we barricaded the area.
So I was surprised to see this one day.
Okay Angel.

Momma can't lift you...

Usually he won't go near a faux barrier.  Our fence is waist high to him now, and poodles have springs, but he respects the barrier.

However habits being what they are, tiles being cool...

Determination.

Another day he was in deep sleep when a squirrel dared to come within inches of the giant poodle teeth.

Can you see it looking in at Cole from the fountain?
Luckily Cole, still the "Great Hunter" was snoozing.

How would you caption these photos?
1. Dreaming of squirrels
2. Let sleeping dogs lie
3. On a dare the squirrel won a pile of acorns from his pals

  2. It's hard when they get that old and we ended up babying our old terrier more in his old age than we had as a puppy. Mum would throw on an extra handful of pasta just for him. Even harder when the time comes but I wouldnt trade all the fun and lovely days to avoid it. Hope Cole has many more fun and lovely days. He couldn't be looked after better.

  5. Never underestimate a determined animal. I've learned the hard way. Of course, that's what makes me love them more.

Cole knows he's loved. Lucky dog.

  15. Love "dreaming of squirrels." I'm so sorry to hear Cole has cancer. We lost our last 2 dogs to that horrible disease. I know you'll treasure every moment you have left together. None of us know how long we have so we all have to make the most of every day. Sending hugs and pawsitive thoughts your way.

  20. Barriers are for 'ordinary' dogs, not poodles. Praying you have much time left so Cole has loads of squirrel dreams. Hugs to you both. ❤️

  22. Oh dear, so sorry to hear of Cole's illness. I love reading his capers. It does not surprise me that he made it to the tiles. Poodles can be a little stubborn and determined at times.
