whew, it's all over but the candy wrappers...

Whew! The day after the night before. It's all over now, except for random candy wrappers and squashed snickers bars in the streets.
Cole was a bit peeved when he smelled the candy being put out... where's mine? At least he didn't freak at the kids. He got some special poodle treats mid-way through the evening.

The last troupe to arrive last night was a pack of kids, the shortest kept grabbing my bowl and pulling it down, the father held out someone's basket for candy, maybe 6 or so beggers clamoring for treats all at once, a slew of adults, all on my little front porch, then an enormous black lab mix pushes her way into my front door. OY!

Cole quickly headed to the door to stop the madness, I was able to usher the lab out, keep Cole in, and peel little fingers off the candy bowl just in time.

The mother didn't say sorry or thank you, just coughed a racking cough and stepped off my porch onto my front garden. One child looked disappointed as he saw what I put in his already overflowing bag.

Sheesh.
All at the advanced hour of  8:30 too.

I turned off the light. We were done.

WOW AND WOW! Makes me so glad I missed trick or treating this week. Seamus and Greta are pretty nosey, They have to greet everyone at the door when we do have Trick or Treat. Well at least it's over ........for another year :) Hugs, Mickie

Hi LeeAnna,
That's sad when a festival that could be creatively fun turns into "mandatory" with bad behaviour, not only by the kids. I don't miss it at all here! Halloween can be found in a few places here, mostly parties and a few restaurants, such as the Texas steak house, go all out with decorations, so I've heard!
Isn't there a "no light on, no candy " pollicy?
You did great with no tempting cany in house!
Take care,
Joanne

We had only 11 trick or treat-ers and they were all very polite and said thank you....so sorry that you had a bad experience--those mothers definitely were the problem--doncha think? Not my fave holiday to tell the truth....

We didn't get any trick or treaters - all the kids on our road have grown up and aged out. 8) We bought a bag of chocolate just in case, but it's still unopened...

It's so sad when bad behavior (on the part of the parent) spoils the fun. We had only 83 trick-or-treaters this year and it was a pretty polite group. Usually we get about 160-170. And it seems like the later the hour, the older the kids. But even the older kids were polite and well behaved. And I only saw 1 smashed pumpkin on our street Sunday morning.

Only got a few callers and the dogs were preoccupied with a plastic Kong filled with kibblebits so all worked out ok. Apart from the pile of sweets left in the bucket. Be eating them all month long!

Oh, hearing that story makes me glad we don't get T or T'ers on my street. Our part of the 'hood is way to windy, dark, hilly AND there are many streets with no sidewalks, so it's really not safe. So glad we don't live in the 'hood below us which is flat, well-lit and a lovely grid with sidewalks on every street. They get bombarded down there!

You did well we turned our light out at about 7.15 pm after about 50 to 60 kids in an hour. It was the first time we had Halloween in our new home, we didn't get trick or treaters at our old apartment. But our dogs handled it really well, I think they were just fascinated lol.
