Don't pass go.... another Cole Caper

There are two versions of this story, mine and Cole's.  We'll start with mine because I'm the one typing.

We start out for walks okay... both of us walking a good pace, then all of a sudden Cole will put on the stops!     eeeerrrkk!    Plants his four legs and immovable bulk of poodle willfulness.
If I'm not paying attention I get yanked backward.

When I turn around to see what happened he flips and walks back the way we came...
Apparently some smell over-rides my command to "keep going! heads up! no stopping!".
The  " GO"
Once the smell has been, er, covered up he trots by me as if to say, Well momma, Come on! Heads up!

Cole says: Maybe we have a difference of opinion in defining: Walk... now what does that mean to you, my fellow dogs? Of course it means, track critters,  check pee mail, leave no smell un-sniffed, no message un-peed on.

And if you come across a random squirrel, chase it.

In other words, enjoy the process people!
Stop and smell the tree trunk, even if you miss it and smell it from a distance, TURN AROUND for barking out loud!

I'm the first one to admit I'm getting older. My sniffer might not be as fine-tuned as it once was and maybe a smell yells to me after I passed it...
But I'm still here, y'all! I still got it! It's never too late to go back and cover my bases!

As to the yanking allegation.... Momma needs to open her nose and realize some smells can't be ignored.

I love the "immovable bulk of poodle willfulness." Of course he needs to stop and smell the pee mail. Sheesh.

If only we had such a marvelous sense of smell...well, without the disgust factor that humans can't get over.

I have long since given in to the boys when it comes to walking. I feel like a chauffeur - I just go where they tell me to go. LOL

Oh, dear... pee mail... I'm going to be giggling to myself for the rest of the day...
(The advantage of walking a beagle is that I can pick her up and tote her if she gets too stubborn. Especially the third time she smells the same pee mail.)

Isn't it funny how some smells are so appealing to them that you WILL stop? Lol.
